Ramsgate Week Regatta is an annual, friendly sailing regatta. The flagship yachting events in Ramsgate, hosted by the Royal Temple Yacht Club in July.
During Ramsgate Week there is racing for various cruiser and IRC classes, alongside lively social events, live music, and food in the harbour. The racing takes place off shore.
Regular Season Racing
- Sunday IRC and Cruiser Class Racing : Organized by the Royal Temple Yacht Club running weekly from April through October.
- Weekend & Midweek Series : Regular short-course, coastal, and offshore races take place on weekends from March through October, alongside midweek evening races running from June through August.

Is Ramsgate good for Cycling Routes?
Yes, Ramsgate is an excellent base for cycling, offering access to iconic coastal routes, flat traffic-free paths, and rich historical trails.
We have a whole corner of the coast to conquer by bike and several family-friendly routes to free-wheel along. So whether you take on one of our trails, or take on a bike tour, there’s something for everyone, and so much to explore on two wheels.

Ramsgate is one of England’s easiest beach escapes, with award-winning golden sands, sea swimming, waterfront dining and the UK’s only Royal Harbour. It’s one of the closest Blue Flag sandy beaches to London by high-speed train.
Ramsgate is approximately 75 minutes from St Pancras by high-speed train.
Whether you are looking for a lively family day out or a quiet spot to swim, Ramsgate boasts three distinct sandy bays to suit every kind of beachgoer.

How safe are Ramsgate’s beaches?
Ramsgate’s beautiful beaches offer clean, safe waters and pristine sands, with Ramsgate Main Sands proudly holding a prestigious 2026 Blue Flag award.
Water Quality
The Environment Agency rates the bathing water quality here as “Excellent” based on long-term bacterial monitoring.
Temporary Risks : Heavy rainfall can cause surface water runoff or temporary storm outfall releases, which occasionally prompt short-term advice against bathing. Check the Thanet District Council updates for current daily advisories.
Lifeguards
Seasonal RNLI Lifeguards patrol the main beach during peak summer months (late May to early September) from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Always swim between the red and yellow flags.

Is Ramsgate harbour worth a visit?
Most definitely.
Ramsgate Royal Harbour is a stunning Grade II* listed landmark. It is the only harbour in the United Kingdom that has the official right to call itself “Royal”. It was granted royal status by King George IV in 1821.
The harbour is a defining characteristic of the town and today, the Royal Harbour effortlessly blends its 24/7 working industry, hosting commercial fishing fleets and offshore wind farm support vessels, with a thriving, cosmopolitan waterfront scene.

Can I walk along the Royal Harbour pier arms or visit the lighthouse?
West Pier : The pier structure is completely accessible for a scenic walk out to the 11-metre, Grade II listed West Pier Lighthouse. You can walk right up to its famous bright red door and use the public bench seating at the end to watch the boats.
East Pier : You can also stroll along the East Pier arm, which features the ship-shaped Royal Harbour Brasserie at its end.
The promenade leading to the lighthouse has step-free, wheelchair-accessible terrain.
Dogs are welcome if kept on leads along the harbor walks.
