Pier to Pier Cycle Trail – Ramsgate to Deal
Buff down your saddle, grease up your chain and prepare to give your bicycle one of its best days out yet. From the bike-friendly pathways to the exhilarating array of Kentish sights you will pedal through almost everything on the Pier to Pier trail is a cyclist’s dream. Whether you see yourself as a Tour de France contender or a lazy day out type of peddler you’ll find the twists and turns on this journey of discovery equally satisfying. Starting at Ramsgate’s East Pier, taking in world renowned architecture, a Royal Harbour, quintessentially English landscapes, protected wildlife, award winning pubs and eateries, the medieval port of Sandwich and finishing at the pier in the thriving seaside town of Deal.
Distance: 12.9 miles (20.8km) one-way mainly on dedicated cycle paths, bridleways and country lanes – allow 90 minutes one-way, 3 hours round trip.
Viking Coastal Trail
With 32 miles of on and off-road bike trails, the Viking Coastal Trail around the Isle of Thanet has been designed to put the pep back into your pedal. So whether you plan to go it alone or take the family along for the ride, you can trust Active Ramsgate to point you in the right direction.
With rolling countryside, cliff-top routes and a backdrop of sea views, experienced cyclists can cycle the entire trail. For families and those looking for a more leisurely pedal why not cycle one of the Ramsgate loops?
