Ramsgate’s Royal Harbour is much more than a beautiful place to watch the boats go by. Its quays, piers and surrounding buildings tell stories of pioneering engineers, fishermen and Smack Boys, shipwrecked sailors, lifeboat crews, Dunkirk Little Ships and vessels that have played their own remarkable part in British maritime history.
Our new Royal Harbour Heritage Trail brings some of those stories to life through 14 information boards around the harbour.
Ramsgate is home to one of the largest and most ambitious examples of Pulhamite coastal landscaping in the country, with five Grade II listed seafront locations forming a nationally important open-air heritage trail.
The suggested east-to-west route begins at Winterstoke Gardens on the East Cliff and continues towards Albion Place Gardens, Madeira Walk, Royal Parade Harbour Arches and Western Undercliff Chine.
Ramsgate Pottery is a welcoming studio space where adults and children can learn and practise hand building and wheel pottery skills.
As well as hosting regular classes and workshops, the studio space and kiln are also available to hire for more experienced potters.
Warre Recreation Ground is a public green space situated next to Ramsgate Train Station and directly behind the local fire station. The 25,915-square-metre park serves as an active community and sports hub.
Ramsgate Skatepark is located within the grounds. It features an all-concrete double-section bowl with a 4-foot shallow end and a 6-to-8-foot deep end.
The Little Brick House Café is Kent’s first Lego® building café.
Our standard sessions are available in 1, 2 and 3 hour sittings. We also offer SEN sessions at reduced capacity.
Customers can choose from hundreds of Lego® sets, free play Lego® and Duplo®.

KIX Arena is a state-of-the-art indoor 3G football and fitness facility transforming an industrial warehouse into an all-weather footballing hub, providing a weather-proof “fortress” for grassroots sports, community events, and training.
The Ramsgate Town Shed is a community workshop space for woodwork and DIY projects. It is open to adults aged 18 and over to share skills, work on projects, and socialize. It’s free to attend (utilizing a donation or subscription system to support space costs).
Volunteers work together on shared items designed to improve the town, “such as benches and planters”.
Newington Community Centre is a resident-led community hub located in the heart of the Newington estate in Ramsgate. The centre provides a large, bright, and highly adaptable space for private parties or large community gatherings.

Pie Factory Music is a registered creative youth charity operating directly out of the Ramsgate Youth Centre. It is a vital community hub that provides free music, creative arts, and universal youth services to young people across East Kent.
Established in 2002, the charity empowers young people aged up to 25 by providing an inclusive space to learn skills, build confidence, and socialise.
Ramsgate Space is a community hub that supports people and organisations to access space, test business ideas, get business support and connect with others shaping the town centre’s future. It also host a number of activities and events, both indoors and outdoors. Ramsgate Space routinely utilizes Albert Court for seasonal community gatherings, enterprise training sessions, and arts programs.
Ramsgate Croquet Club is a friendly, active sports group located in a beautiful clifftop setting.
The club features four laser-levelled lawns that are widely reputed to be among the finest in Southeast England.
Ramsgate Croquet Club holds regular taster sessions – three times a week by prior arrangement from mid-March to December.
Ramsgate Bowling Club is a thriving, historic lawn bowls hub located on the Royal Esplanade. Established over a century ago, it is known for its beautiful cliffside setting and highly welcoming, community-focused atmosphere.
East Cliff Promenade and Beach is a peaceful, scenic coastal stretch located just a short walk from Ramsgate Main Sands. It offers a quieter, more natural alternative to the main sands.
Accessible at sea level from East Cliff Promenade, a flat, paved sea-level promenade running past the cliffs.
Western Undercliff Beach is a quiet, mixed sand-and-rocky beach located next to the Port of Ramsgate. It features high chalk cliffs, a small tidal paddling pool, and local roadside parking.
Access to the lower promenade is via the Royal Harbour Approach Road.
Ramsgate Main Sands are an award winning sandy beach approximately 250 metres long with a pedestrian promenade (Marina Esplanade) running the length of the sand. The beach is situated east of the Royal Harbour and Marina.
The beach area offers something for everyone, has a real continental feel and is safe for swimming.
Gather& is a multifunctional wellness, events, and community space overlooking the Royal Harbour.
It hosts pop-up dining, creative workshops, vintage markets, and mindful movement classes like yoga, sound baths, and tai chi.
Opening hours depend on the specific pop-up, workshop, or private event taking place.
Ramsgate Royal Harbour is a stunning Grade II listed landmark. It is the only harbour in the United Kingdom that has the official right to call itself “Royal”.
The harbour area is a focal point for a number of activities throughout the year.
Spencer Square Tennis Courts are located in a beautiful Georgian square not far from Ramsgate Town Centre. The venue offers three outdoor hard tennis courts, six dedicated pickleball courts, and a renovated pavilion hosting Vincent’s Café.

The Route 69 Thanet Open Top Bus (Thanet Open Topper) is a seasonal bus service, and a tourist attraction in its own right. Deploying several open top buses, it runs regularly from Ramsgate Boating Pool to Minnis Bay via Westbrook, Margate and Broadstairs.

Radford House is a Grade II listed historic building located on Effingham Street in Ramsgate. Built between 1715 and 1723, it originally served as a private residence, then a fire station. It is now being transformed into a vibrant community hub.
