September is a special time in Ramsgate, with Music and Culture taking central stage. The main musical event is the Festival of Sound, which incorporates the ‘Busk until Dusk’ and the ‘Sonic Trail’ events and the big culture events are Pugin Week and the Heritage Open Days Festival.

Trains & Tractions @ The Tunnels Festival

Model Railroaders are also in for as treat as the Trains & Tractions @ The Tunnels Festival runs on the 5th and 6th of September.

This is a family-friendly weekend event that celebrates model engineering and railway heritage.

Free Vintage Bus Service

There’s also a Free Vintage Bus Service from Ramsgate Station to the Harbour for this event on the 6th of September. The bus also goes to the Boating Pool where you can attend the Viking Model Boats Open Day.

Pugin Week

Pugin Week starts on the 7th of September, it is an annual festival celebrating the life and work of architect Augustus Pugin, featuring free events at St. Augustine’s Church, St Edward’s Presbytery and The Grange with activities like talks, guided tours, children’s workshops, and heritage walks exploring Gothic Revival architecture, music, and local history, connecting visitors to Pugin’s architectural vision for Ramsgate.

The Ramsgate Festival of Sound is a multi-day annual arts and music festival dedicated to celebrating Ramsgate’s rich heritage and community. The festival connects audiences through immersive sonic experiences and live performances, anchored by key highlight events such as Busk Until Dusk and The Sonic Trail.

The festival runs from the 10th to the 13th of September.

Busk Until Dusk : A major live music event, a town-wide “musical pub crawl” that brings live performances directly into the community. Click here for more information.

Ramsgate is taking part in England’s largest free festival of history and culture from the 11th to the 20th of September.

As one of England’s few officially designated Heritage Harbours, Ramsgate boasts over 450 listed buildings and puts on a highly vibrant festival program managed locally by the Ramsgate Society. During the festival you can explore maritime marvels, architectural gems, and hidden tunnels entirely for free.

Ramsgate Pride

On the 19th of September there is the Ramsgate Pride. A grassroots pride event celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community of Ramsgate.

  • Community March : A parade through town celebrating visibility, inclusion, and solidarity.
  • Family Festival : Entertainment, family-friendly events, and community activities with classic seaside charm.
  • Live Entertainment : Multiple community stages showcasing local talent, performers, and public figures.
  • Workshops & Activities : Interactive grassroots sessions and community-led workshops hosted throughout the day.
  • Pride Parties : Festivities kicking off from 10:00 AM, leading into evening celebrations and afterparties.

Kingfisher Walks

There is usually at least one Kingfisher (sometimes two or three) sheltering in Ramsgate Harbour and the port area over winter, they are elusive birds but our wildlife guide can help you see one starting around September.

This month the Ramsgate Community Cinema are showing three films and hosting a Q&A on the 13th of September as part of the Festival of Sound .

Hotels, Bars, Pubs, Cafés, Clubs and more

Local Hotels, Pubs, Bars and Cafés are hosting musical events and comedy events. Some events are being held in Ramsgate Clubs, check with them directly on their non members policy. The ‘September 2026 – Events in Ramsgate‘ map below provides event information, location and contact information.

Comedy & Cabaret clubs

There’s the Ramsgate Comedy Club (Chuckl.) at the Granville theatre, Wilson’s Comedy Club at the Queen’s Head and Vaults Comedy at the Ramsgate Arts Club. The Alley Bar also hosts cabaret acts and comedians.

Writing, poetry and book clubs

There are book clubs at The Bedford Inn, The Ramsgate Arts Club and the Perico Lounge and writing groups at the Artillery Arms and The Book Hotel at The Falstaff which also has a regular Friday Book & Bar nights where the Book Shop is open into the evening.

Chess clubs

The Ramsgate Chess Club meet upstairs in the function room at The Churchill Tavern, every Tuesday & Wednesday at 7:15pm and Dawnie’s Coffee Shop hosts Harry’s Chess Club every Saturday morning.

Quiz nights

There are regular quiz nights at The Book Hotel at The Falstaff , The Bellevue Tavern, The Churchill Tavern, the San Clu Hotel, Violets, The Royal Temple Yacht Club, the Honeysuckle Inn and the Perico Lounge and a monthly live music quiz at the Queens Head on the 10th of September.

New Openings

A new restaurant and bar is opening this month :-

  • Little Kraken – Seafood, Wine, Cocktails, Steaks & Oysters. 4c York Street (opening from 10 September). The signage for this restaurant is so distinctive that we’ve added it to the Public Art Trail.

Exhibitions this month at local Art Galleries, Pop-up Galleries and Hotels/Bars/Cafes with Gallery space include :-

  • Always & Forever – Photography exhibition by Amy Reilly at Rogue’s Gallery in Plunder (September – Private view 4 September, 6:00pm-8:00pm).
  • The Garden of Earthly Delights Exhibition – ceramics, prints and drawings by Bimba Champion, Rupert Willard & Death Row Ceramics at The Italianate Glasshouse (Saturday 12 September – Sunday 13 September, 10:00am – 4:00pm).
  • Sonic Trail – Art walk featuring sound installations, this year’s theme is ‘Everyday Histories’ (11-13 September).

The Open Top Bus

(Route 69)

The Open-Top Bus service is running on the 5th & 6th of September.

The route runs from Minnis Bay to Ramsgate via Westbrook, Margate and Broadstairs.

Public Art Trail
