August is the peak of summer in Ramsgate, offering the town’s warmest weather, bustling beaches, and a diverse lineup of activities.

  • Experience what it was like in an WW2 Air raid with living history reenactors at the Ramsgate Tunnels.
  • Rent a Pedalo at the Ramsgate Boating Pool. Located on the West Cliff, the historic Ramsgate Boating Pool has pedalos for hire during the summer holidays.
  • Camp out at the ‘Love on the Runway‘ event which lands at Manston Airport for a huge 2-day family-friendly festival featuring 5 arenas of music, world-class DJs, fairground rides, food stalls, cocktail bars, VIP areas and much more on the 29th and 30th of August. With a special Friday Night campers only event planned for the 28th.

Ramsgate Day

Ramsgate Day is on the 15th of August. Join us for a vibrant celebration of everything we love about our town—our community, history and local businesses! This year’s Ramsgate Day transforms the town centre into a giant circus-inspired celebration.

You can even make your own juggling balls at the Little Ravens Circus themed Crafting Workshop on Ramsgate Day.

Ramsgate Blitz Commemoration

Ramsgate commemorates its wartime history annually on the 24th of August, marking the 1940 Blitz when the town became the first in Britain to experience a massive daytime air raid. The Ramsgate Tunnels host special events including air raid siren soundings and the The Ramsgate Air Raid Experience 2026.

For the School Summer holidays the Children Under 16 – Things to do Map below is full of ideas to keep the kids occupied during the long summer break. The Thanet Coast Project are also running a ‘Summer Seashore Safari‘ on the 17th of August at Eastcliff beach.

Comedy & Cabaret clubs

There’s the Ramsgate Comedy Club (Chuckl.) at the Granville theatre, Wilson’s Comedy Club at the Queen’s Head and Vaults Comedy at the Ramsgate Arts Club. The Alley Bar also hosts cabaret acts and comedians.

Writing, poetry and book clubs

There are book clubs at The Bedford Inn, The Ramsgate Arts Club and the Perico Lounge and writing groups at the Artillery Arms and The Book Hotel at The Falstaff which also has a regular Friday Book & Bar nights where the Book Shop is open into the evening.

Chess clubs

The Ramsgate Chess Club meet upstairs in the function room at The Churchill Tavern, every Tuesday & Wednesday at 7:15pm and Dawnie’s Coffee Shop hosts Harry’s Chess Club every Saturday morning.

Quiz nights

There are regular quiz nights at The Book Hotel at The Falstaff , The Bellevue Tavern, The Churchill Tavern, the San Clu Hotel, Violets and the Perico Lounge and a monthly live music quiz at the Queens Head on the 13th of August.

Cider & Punk Festival

The Elephant & Castle Pub are hosting their annual Punk & Cider Festival on the 28th to the 30th of August.

The Open Top Bus

(Route 69)

The Open-Top Bus service is running every day in August.

The route runs from Minnis Bay to Ramsgate via Westbrook, Margate and Broadstairs.

Public Art Trail
