Event Organiser required, immediate start (April 2023)

We are looking for an experienced event organiser to support the Ramsgate Small Business group and the Town Team in creating the first ‘Ramsgate Day’ – a celebration of the town and its communities.

We will present this event on Saturday 10 June as the first of what will become an annual event. The role is temporary with an expectation of 9 days work. This is on a freelance basis with a fee of £120.00 per day, payable with 50% after 5 days and the balance at the end of the event. Please note there may be an additional opportunity, working with the Town Promoter on the town’s Coronation Event in early May.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience of organising public events

Experience of negotiating with and engaging support from businesses, community groups and individuals

Demonstrable knowledge of Ramsgate town and its organisations, shops and community groups

Ability to engage support from others for a project, including in terms of donating finance

Strong leadership skills

Ability to work at own initiative, whilst reporting to a core group

Imaginative and creative approach to making an event appealing to the widest public audience

DESIRABLE

Experience of organising outdoor events

Experience of marketing a project using online options

Existing contacts within the Ramsgate community and business community

Experience of the new Thanet District Council online event application process

Understanding of legal requirements for safety and controls at outdoor events
