Thanet Ten-Tastic Blog with map links
Thanet Ten-Tastic will run from 24th March for ten days, ending on 2nd April and with lots of independent businesses taking part across the Isle, this is a great time to explore what Ramsgate and beyond has to offer!
Our businesses in Ramsgate love a trail and so do the children! For this first ‘Magic Tenner’ event we will have 3 trails of ten businesses! Each trail spells out a little message and on completion, you simply have to go into a participating shop to collect your square RAMSGREAT badge, which is based on local street artist, Mr Tear Gas’ work that some of you might remember appeared at the multi storey car park and now resides on the east side of Wetherspoon pub. The RAMSGREAT logo design was recently voted for as a new logo for businesses to use in town as part of their promotions and this is the first time it has been used and for me, it represents the fun, quirky side to our ever-changing town. There are up to 3 coloured badges to collect, you just have to do each trail and collect your respective badges on each one. All the shops will hold a bunch of badges for you to choose your colour but there are only 1000 in total so don’t delay! *
Don’t forget to check your children’s schoolbags for the trail flyer which will be winging their way to you from Wednesday.
Along with the ten-tastic trails, lots of businesses are taking part with some fab offers, including 10% off and £10 deals and, just for you, many are also taking part in the RAMSGREAT RAFFLE – participating businesses will ask you to write your details on the back of a raffle ticket when you spend £10 or more in their shop over the 10 day event, for a chance to win lots of fantastic offers in a free prize draw which will take place in April.
Look out for these posters in shop windows to see who’s taking part in the raffle
This 10 day event will also see the launch of our new Charlotte Court Market (behind The Horse & Groom pub) on Saturday 25th March. The market will run on the last Saturday of every month until November, from 10am to 4pm and will have different stalls each time, spreading the love with local artisans showcasing their creations.
If you fancy taking part in the Festival of Sound this year, hot foot it from the market on 25th and head up to the Albion House Hotel for their open call-out event from 4pm to 7pm where there’s also include a Secret Vinyl Auction. Click the link for more: https://fb.watch/jmEZgaGDfo/
This ten day event has been inspired by Totally Locally’s Fiver Fest and subsequent Magic Tenner campaign which is all about how much further a tenner goes when you spend it at an independent business compared to out of town or online shopping. We all love our towns and celebrate their uniqueness and this is an opportunity to explore what’s on offer, discover new spaces and spend some time finding ways to spend that Magic Tenner!
One final note from me, there are around 100,000 adults in Thanet and if we all spent £10 every ten days in an independent business, that would contribute over £36 million to our local economy! I hope this ten day event inspires you to visit Ramsgate and the other towns that are taking part across the Isle of Thanet! Spread the love and have a ten-tastic time doing it!
