Ramsgate is Active8ed!

Cycling - Visit RamsgateAs we approach the summer season, Active Ramsgate has produced an A5 flyer so that our visitors can make the most of the activities we have to offer at a special discounted rate.  You will be able to find these Active8 flyers at the Custom House (CT11 8LP) and dotted around the town at most of our cafes and restaurants.   The offers include boat trips, scuba diving, kayaking, pickleball, cycle hire, kitesurfing, tennis and golf so there really is something to try for everyone!

Of course, there are free fun opportunities to be had!  With our golden sandy award winning beaches, beautiful bays and The Viking Coastal Trail, one of the best cycle routes in Britain (it’s official according to cottages.com!), there is no reason why you can’t have an exhilarating experience without splashing the cash.  Active Ramsgate, which is a Ramsgate Town Council initiative, has created 4 different walks, each offering a different route depending on your interest and ability.

Walking Trails - Visit RamsgateFrom our Ramsgate Town Rounders walk taking in some of our finest architecture to our Contra Trail which starts in the heart of the bustling harbour and ends in the tranquillity of Pegwell Bay Nature Reserve, one of the most internationally important reserves in the world.

For a gentle amble along our coastline, check out the Sea it All trail which involves strolling along our chalk cliff coastline (tide dependent) – you can start at Sorbettos Ice Cream Parlour and end at Morelli’s Parlour in Broadstairs!  Go on, you’ve earned it!

My favourite of all the walks is The Beach Roamer which takes in all of our coastal towns, starting at Ramsgate and ending in Margate – just under 7 miles of coastal walking, exploring the unique bays as you go.  You do have to check the tides for this one but it is one of the few (if not the only!) corners of England that you can walk around the coastline in just a few hours, starting south facing and ending up pointing north.  There are some great pit stops along the way and once you reach Margate, there is plenty to check out before heading back to Ramsgate.  The Loop bus will take you ‘home’- a brilliant service that runs every 7-10 minutes most days!

The Grange - Visit RamsgateThere are even longer walks including The Way of St Augustine Trail which goes from Ramsgate’s St Augustine’s Church to Canterbury Cathedral.  It’s an epic 19 miler but the link above breaks it into smaller sections with options for a stopover en route.

So next time you are planning a trip to Ramsgate, do check out our Activities  section and have a go at something different!  After all, a holiday is made up of memorable experiences which we can provide in abundance!
