Winterstoke Gardens

The historic Winterstoke Gardens are a cliff-top oasis overlooking the sea. Gifted to the town in 1920 by Dame Janet Stancomb-Wills, the Grade II-listed park features a Doric sun colonnade and extensive Pulhamite rock work. The gardens are an ideal stopping point on the clifftop walk leading from Ramsgate Royal Harbour to King George VI Memorial Park and on to Broadstairs.

The park features striking architecture and landscaping elements:

The Sun Shelter & Colonnade : A semi-circular Doric colonnade built directly into the cliffs, offering shaded sea views.

Pulhamite rock Gardens : Constructed by the renowned firm Pulham and Son, this artificial rockwork provides a textured, tiered cliffside aesthetic.

The Chine : The Winterstoke Chine (East Cliff Chine) connects the cliff-top gardens directly down to the Winterstoke Undercliff and beach area.

Outdoor Concerts & more

Winterstoke Gardens host outdoor concerts, immersive sound baths, and acoustic sets, primarily during September’s Ramsgate Festival of Sound. Its historic Sun Shelter provides a clifftop acoustic stage overlooking the coastline.

Dog Friendly :

Yes. It’s a popular spot for local dog walkers. Recommended that you keep dogs on leads.
