St George’s Church

St George’s Church is a Grade l listed building, it is a hub for a number of community activities and events in Ramsgate. It is widely known for its unique Lantern Tower, which stands 136 feet high and historically served as a navigational aid for sailors in the English Channel.

Dunkirk Memorial Window: A stained-glass window in the Lady Chapel commemorates the 1940 evacuation, depicting the “Little Ships” departing from Ramsgate Harbour.

Tours :

The church offers the following guided tours that can be booked through the St George’s Church website

  • Tower Tours: A 45-minute climb that takes you through the clock room and up to the lantern for views that can reach as far as France on clear days.
  • Crypt Tours: A 30-minute exploration of the family vaults and the underground space used for worship during WWII.
Activities/Events :

Social Enterprise (SE) Kitchen :

St. George’s Church host the Social Enterprise Kitchen in its Hall. The Kitchen is operated by Social Enterprise Kent to provide cheap food, for those who would otherwise struggle to buy enough for themselves and their family.
