Sailors Church & Harbour Mission

The Sailors’ Church and Harbour Mission, close by the foot of Jacob’s Ladder and overlooking Ramsgate Royal Harbour was built in 1878 by Canon Eustace Brenan, vicar of the nearby Christ Church. He saw the need for spiritual guidance and physical help for the men and boys who made up the crews of the sailing smacks who fished out of Ramsgate in the nineteenth century.

The Sailor’s Church is open to the public and acts as a mini-maritime museum packed with historic photos, nautical memorabilia, and beautifully detailed scale models of old sailing ships.

Sunday Services still occasionally take place here during the summer months.
