Ramsgreat Week
This October half-term, Visit Ramsgate and Ramsgate Arts are proud to present ‘Ramsgreat Week’ – a nine-day festival taking place from Saturday 24 October – Sunday 1 November featuring events (live and online), art trails , storytelling events and gallery exhibitions happening at multiple locations across the South Thanet town. Most events are free of charge.
Highlights include Thanet’s first Pumpkin Trail, family show The Sea Show, a Ramsgate Makers market hosted by Molly Pickle Designs, a fancy dress Dog Show at Royal Harbour Brasserie, Streaming Alley Halloween, stories from Moon Lane Ramsgate and live music on Ramsgate Arts Barge. There are also multiple exhibitions, public art trails, walks and digital maps to explore, including three artist homes participating in East Kent Artists’ Open Houses.
Ramsgreat Week is one of twelve coastal town festivals, happening during October half-term as part of ‘Back & Fill’ – a national effort, organised by Margate’s Marine Studios, to encourage people to visit coastal towns during the October half-term – supporting small seaside economies affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. https://backandfill.uk
The event is supported by Ramsgate Town Council.
Installation: Mr Tear Gas
Artist: Mr Tear Gas
Title: Where I live
Location: Royal Harbour Car Park, Leopold Street, Ramsgate CT11 9EF
Dates: Ongoing
Opening times: 24 hours
Less Talk. Mr Tear Gas makes bold, positive statements about the world around him, encouraging less talk and more action. The RAMSGREAT piece was created to (quite literally) open doors to conversations about the greatness of this town, wherever and however you might choose to know that. This is art for everyone who sees it. It’s out on our streets, within our everyday, easily accessible and without financial inclination. It’s here to raise a smile and start a chat, delivered in that cheeky, rogue fashion that also describes the personality of Ramsgate itself; this town of ours that can only be what we make it.
