The Custom House • Visitors Information Centre

The Custom House is a striking, Grade II listed Victorian building located on Harbour Parade in Ramsgate. Built in 1893, it is distinguished by its deep red-brick and terracotta façade, ornate columned lantern, and copper dome. Originally serving as offices for Customs & Excise until the 1980s.

Today, the building houses the Ramsgate Visitors Information Centre, the RNLI gift shop, and the Wandering Hut Restaurant.

Visitors Information Centre

The Visitors Information Centre is run by Ramsgate Town Council and staffed by volunteers. It provides local maps, brochures, leaflets, flyers, and advice on nearby attractions, as well as information on events.

Opening Hours :

April to October

Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

November to March

Monday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Event Space

The first floor is occupied by Ramsgate Town Council and includes the Mayor’s Parlour and Chamber, which are available to hire for private functions.
