How to get to Ramsgate
We are situated on the southeastern tip of Kent, a unique location which provides us with a more temperate climate than some other parts of the country. Excellent road and rail links from London means that getting here is quick and easy, even the continent is just a hop across the Channel, as we are closer to France than our county town of Maidstone.
By Car
Excellent road links with the M20 and M2 motorways close-by provide easy links from London. Helpful route planners are:

If you’re travelling from the continent you can drive straight onto the Eurotunnel train at Calais and in just 35 minutes you’ll arrive in Folkestone. From Folkestone it is approximately a 50 minute drive to Ramsgate on the A20 and A256.

By Rail
There are frequent trains between St Pancras International Station, London Victoria Station, Charing Cross Station, and Ramsgate Railway Station, Thanet Parkway Station. Journey times are typically 74 minutes (St Pancras) and 2 hours (Victoria and Charing Cross).

The High speed train service between St Pancras International Station and Ramsgate Railway Station, Thanet Parkway Station means travelling from the capital is quick and easy.

By Air
From London Gatwick Airport it is approximately 1 hour 40 minutes drive to Ramsgate, whilst Heathrow Airport is approximately a 2 hours drive away. Stansted, Luton and London City airports are all up to 3 hours drive away.
Visitors arriving at any of London’s airports, who wish to travel by public transport to the area, must first travel to central London and change to a connecting coach or train service.
Travelling within Ramsgate & Thanet
Loop Bus
The Loop Bus operates a regular 8/10 minute service between Ramsgate, Broadstairs & Margate (Free Wi-Fi & USB charging).

Open Top Bus
The popular Open Top bus service runs :-
- 3 – 19 April (Easter Holidays)
- 23 – 31 May (May half term)
- Weekends from 6 June
- Daily during the summer holidays (22 July – 31 August)
- 5 & 6 September
This seasonal bus service deploys several open top buses and runs regularly from Ramsgate Boating Pool to Minnis Bay and back.
