Are you ready to take the plunge? With TWO beaches in our town, you can double-dip in the sea!

Swim with confidence along our Lifeguarded beach at our Main Sands, or join a friendly community of sea swimmers at high tide along Western Undercliff.

Stay safe in the water

Always be sure to follow RNLI advice and check the weather and tides before you swim.

Never swim alone and keep an eye on children at all times.

Where to swim

BEST FOR FAMILIES
Ramsgate Main Sands

This golden sandy beach next to our Royal Harbour won a Seaside Award in 2024. Lifeguards patrol the beach on weekends from late-May to mid-July, then daily from mid-July to the end of August.

Close to the town, this beach has everything on hand for a full day of swimming and family fun – including toilets, parking, and full disabled access. There are also two beach bars serving food and drinks, plus a funfair for children.

Open: All year round (see above for Lifeguard season).

FOR SERIOUS SWIMMERS
Western Undercliff

This beach is a mix of sand and rocky chalk – best for swimming at high tide, when a community of regular swimmers head down.

There is on site parking along the roadside, with a café and pub a short walk away at the top of the cliff behind. Portaloo toilets are available over the summer months.

Open: All year round.
