WOW! A Weekend of Wonder

Following the spectacular Christmas Lights Switch-On on 30 November, Ramsgate’s Winter Festival continues with its flagship event: The Weekend of Wonder, running from 11–14 December. This year’s theme celebrates magic, joy and wonder—and the town will be glowing with festive energy.
Ramsgate Illuminations at the Royal Harbour
Ramsgate’s Royal Harbour will once again sparkle with the famous Ramsgate Illuminations. For over a decade, local boat owners have adorned their vessels to raise funds for the RNLI, drawing visitors from across the globe. The Weekend of Wonder is the best time to see the illuminations at their dazzling peak. Check out the lit up arches and our obelisk too!
Late Night Shopping & Festive Fun – Thursday 11 December
Enjoy late night shopping in the town centre, Addington Street, Military Road Arches and a Pickle Pop-Up Christmas Market in Charlotte Court (behind the Horse & Groom). There will be roaming encounters with the enchanting iDeer by Jude Greenaway, and vibrant entertainment from the much-loved Samba Ya Wantsum band.
Late Night Christmas Shopping – 11th December
The evening also marks the launch of the Light Up Ramsgate trail – an inspiring series of light installations across town. Look out for the spectacular, pulsing Mechanical Heart, created by blacksmith Felicity Jones. A full trail map and artwork details will be available on the website at Ramsgate Winter Festival.

- 12 December – A special Advent Doors event at the Ramsgate Tunnels
- 12 December – Launch of the Christmas Tree Festival at St George’s Church
- 12 December – The RNLI brings Santa by boat into the harbour
- 13 December – BYOB: Bring Your Own Beamer! A night of DIY projection art, music and bar at Arts In Ramsgate (ticketed)
- Throughout the weekend – Live music and performances at Slice, The Queen’s Head, Screaming Alley’s Alley Bar, and The Pub

The Ramsgate Winter Festival is made possible through core support from Ramsgate Town Council, the Canterbury Diocese via the Project 200 regeneration initiative at St George’s Church, and Vattenfall, marking 20 years of offshore wind farming in Thanet.
