Ramsgate Carnival and Fair 2025 new shorter route – even more fun!

Ramsgate Carnival and Fair is gearing up for their 102nd annual event, taking place on the last weekend of this month – Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July. Everyone is invited and they have a packed weekend in store for residents and visitors to enjoy!
A great range of celebration, entertainment and fun will be on offer including a new shorter parade route, which has been devised to ensure more people can take part and a focus on creating an even more vibrant and playful atmosphere around the town centre and seafront.
Saturday sees all the fun of the fair with the traditional all day fairground, this year including a bigger market, sensory area, Dog Show, Giants Parade, drumming and carnival arts workshops as well as barrels of Gadds CarnivAle which have been kindly donated by Gadds Brewery to help raise funds for the event.
At 10am bring your prettiest pooches and most handsome hounds to take part in the Dog Show, £2 entry fee and all dogs to be kept on leads.

At 3pm don’t miss the Giant’s Parade with a herd of hooden horses, led by the new and frisky Ramsgate herd and Discordant Comicals. Many more East Kent Hoodens are riding over to join the herd. The organisers’ large smoke breathing dragon, last seen at the St George’s Church Parade in May, will fly in too while Ramsgate’s own Samba Ya Wantsum community band will be beating their drums. Organisers promise it will be lots of fun with the fairground, bar, music and general joy, going on all day till 8pm.
Sunday brings more of the same and presentations from the Charming Courts of Kent, hosted by the reigning Miss Ramsgate.

At 4pm the main Carnival Parade leaves Government Acre to wind its way through the town following the new route. If you’ve watched the parade in previous years, check the parade route to see whether you will need to change where you stand to see it passing by.
Everyone is welcome to get dressed up and join in the fun – you can even take part in a Saturday workshop on Government Acre – either in mask making or percussion – so you are all prepared to join the main parade on Sunday whether or not you are part of a group presentation!

The new route
The parade will now go from Government Acre along Royal Esplanade, St Augustine’s Road, Paragon and Royal Parade, up Harbour Street, along Queen Street and Westcliff Road then down Grange Road and back to the starting point.

Shorter, safer and more accessible so more people can enjoy taking part in the carnival parade! Now all we need is the sun to shine.
Ramsgate Carnival is supported by Ramsgate Town Council, Great British Carnival and Gadds Brewery. There is a crowdfunder for anyone else who would like to contribute to help cover costs.https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-ramsgate-carnival-and-fair
