Ellington Park

Ellington Park is a Victorian 12 acre park with over 400 trees and rolling Victorian landscape and was set out by landscape designer Cheal & Son in 1893.

In 2021 the park was lovingly restored and improved by The Friends of Ellington Park and Thanet District Council with the support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, creating a new multipurpose café and toilet building, new playground and pathways, fully restored terrace, balustrades and bandstand and heritage planting.

Café :

Ellington Park Café. Serving hot & cold food. Lots of outdoor seating.

Shop :

Bookshop located in a shipping container, the shop is operated by the The Friends of Ellington Park, usually open during warmer months (Wednesdays & Saturdays), weather permitting. It sells a range of books, puzzles, and games to support the park.

Activities/Events :

The Ramsgate and District Model Engineering Club (RADMEC) operates a permanent, elevated miniature railway track in Ellington Park, established in 1969. Running on Sundays during warmer months.

The park hosts several events though out the year (May Fayre, Picnic in the Park, summer music, Christmas Fayre, Carols in the Park) and regular community gardening sessions.

The Café is also community hub that hosts a range of activities.

St Lawrence Bowls Club is located in the park.

• Sculptures, ranging from modern wooden carvings to historical memorials and one of the Ramsgate Ravens.

Pathways: The park features well-surfaced tarmac footpaths throughout that are suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and pushchairs.
Entrances: There are three wide access gates designed for easy entry.
Facilities: The on-site Ellington Café and community hub are fully accessible, featuring level access and dedicated wheelchair-accessible restrooms.

Yes. Dogs are allowed inside the Café on leads. Dog treats including ice-cream available.

Park :

General Access: Dogs are welcome throughout the park’s 12 acres of open grass and tree-lined paths.
Leash Rules: Dogs are typically allowed off-lead in open areas, but aggressive dogs must be kept on leads.
Restricted Areas: Dogs must be kept out of the designated wildlife area.
Waste Disposal: Dedicated dog mess bins are provided throughout the park to maintain cleanliness.
