Ramsgate Festival

This year’s Ramsgate Festival takes place from Sat 22nd – Sun 30th July 2017, alongside the historic Ramsgate Week regatta. The organisers say: ‘Think big. unleash your creative potential, play and have fun, everyone can be part of this, prepare to be surprised and delighted by Dream Marine in 2017’

Starting with opera on the beach (Handel’s Semele from Garsington Opera) and finishing with Fire Finale, the packed programme includes: Littoral Light, a beautiful illuminated twilight art installation on a remote stretch of beach involving 40 artists; the Ramsgate Slide, a giant waterslide inspired by internationally famous artist Luke Jerram; the Rubbsh Monster and Jimmy’s Boatyard, a unique installation from Russian artists Cardboardia and Yorkshire’s Handmade Parade, working with local artists, who will bring a daily programme of boat making in the harbour (think BIG!) – and a host of diverse, fun and serious, high quality events that celebrate the unique maritime location of this extraordinary place, from nautical-themed computer games at the Micro Museum, to heritage walks and talks.
